A passion for
sharing knowledge

  • LinkedIn

''One of my first jobs was working as a student tour guide at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. I very much enjoyed sharing my knowledge and interacting with people from different backgrounds. Later in my career, I worked at Radio Free Europe in Munich, where I also gave tours to visitors, including delegations from the U.S. Congress. So now, after decades of working as a professional editor and communications manager for global companies, I'm back to a familiar starting point. Sometimes, life moves in circles. . . .''

My Story

''Not in my wildest dreams could I have foreseen this beautiful Swiss village as my home.''

"I grew up partly on the Gulf Coast of Florida, partly in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. After college, I received a scholarship to study German and was so fascinated with Europe's culture, history and languages, I decided to stay. After working in Germany, I moved to Switzerland, where I started a career in corporate communications. In Basel, I met my wife and we moved to the Italian-speaking Canton of Ticino. Our daughter was born soon afterwards.

We were incredibly lucky to find a beautiful house for sale from the year 1659 (clearly in need of renovation) in Gandria, where we put down our family roots and pursued different professions. Now I've reached a new stage in my career. In addition to giving tours, I have my own communications consulting company. When I'm not working or reading history, you might find me training for a 10K along the sentiero dell'olivo, kayaking across the lake or just sipping a local merlot and enjoying the view.''

A historical place to stay

in Gandria

In my home from the 1600s, right in the center of the village, there are two beautiful apartments for vacationers that consistently get 5-star ratings.
